In 1944, Agincourt was a small farming town, north and east of the city of Toronto. In November of that year, a group of public spirited people, mostly farmers and store-keepers, got together to form a Lions Club to serve their community.

Times have changed and now, nearly 60 years later, Toronto has grown to the point where Agincourt is part of the city, but the Lions Club of Agincourt continues to perform its service work.

Our present membership consists of more than 30 men and women, from many walks of life and cultural backgrounds, and with ages from the mid-30's to the late-80's!

We're strong on tradition, but always ready to adopt new and better ways of doing things.

A Brand New Lions Year!

With the start of July, we began our 60th year of service in Agincourt!

Check out our Activities page for a current calendar of up-coming events.

A new year brings a new Board of Directors. Many of the old crew are back, although most have been elected to new positions on the Board.

Many thanks are due to Immediate Past President Lion Al Mclaren for his guidance last year, and we welcome our second Lady President, Lion Patti Kennedy, who, we are confident, will lead us through another succesful year.

We're Off and Running!

Boil one HUGE cauldron of delicious sweet corn over a roaring fire.
Fill a griddle with sizzling Canadian back bacon.
Mix in a good sprinkling of pleasant company, suitable liquid refreshment and a very casual atmosphere, and what do you have?

It's the Agincourt Lions season-opening Corn Roast, of course!

Lion Lionel Purcell and his wife, Rita, again welcomed about 60 members, spouses and friends to their farm, north of Toronto.

Lion President Patti gave us a brief address, then presented the Purcells with two horses, as a token of our appreciation. No - not real ones. They have plently of those!
These were decorative models, unlike the real 2000lb Belgian that gave Lion Lionel a nasty kick in the back, just a few days before the event. That guy must be made of iron, the way he seems able to bounce back from misadventures!

Lions On Parade!

Parade Entry Not being content with taking a leading role in organizing Scarborough's Canada Day Parade, and working as the Parade Marshals, we also put in a float!

Thanks to Lion Hedley, for the vehicle, and other supporters for the float decorations.

Members of our Bendale Branch, Toronto Kaiteur, Toronto Mabuhay and Cedarbrae/Golden Mile Lions Clubs also turned out to lend a hand.

Lots of work on the event, the organizing and our float went a long way to make this one of the best parades in years. (Or so many onlookers said!)

Who said all we do is talk?

A lady living in the neighbourhood called to say that her husband had been confined to a wheelchair, and she couldn't get him in or out of the house. - Could we help her to pay for a wheelchair ramp?

"We can do better than that", we said. "We can build it!"

Half-a-dozen or so pairs of willing hands, a solid weekend of grunting and sweating, and there it was!

Not bad, eh?....And it didn't cost her a penny!

That's what it's all about - right?

The Lions Club of Agincourt is proud to have been presented with the "Golden Web Award" by the International Association of Webmasters and Designers.
This award is presented in recognition of creativity, integrity and excellence on the Web.(At least, that's their opinion!)

IN APPRECIATION

Canakkale Lions Club of MD 118, TurkeyIn recognition of the contribution of the Lions Clubs of Turkey, especially Lion Dr. Enzar Tore, in providing free web page hosting for Lions Clubs everywhere, the Agincourt Lions Club proudly displays the flag of Turkey on our site.
Click on the flag to go to the web site of Lion Dr. Enzar's home club - the Lions Club of Canakkale.

Bne Ekibin Lions of MD201, Australia

As an extension to the Turkish Lions' contribution, the Brisbane Ekibin Lions Club of MD 201 Q1 (Australia) offer assistance to Lions Clubs who want to take advantage of the Turkish Lions offer, but are not familiar with web publishing. They've already set up many sites for Lions Clubs world-wide, using Lionwap.
If your club wants to be on the internet, and would like some help, leave a message in the Ekibin Guest Book by clicking on the image above.  This is a FREE SERVICE, so you don't spend a cent for their work. As Lionwap is also FREE, this means you get a web site that you NEVER have to pay for. - Is that a deal or what?
All your Club has to do is have some-one update and maintain your page, which needs not take more than a few minutes each month. The Ekibin Lions will even give you some tips on that!
